Materials that make up the chiller system; compressor, expansion valve, evaporator, condenser. Gas; It is compressed and heated in the compressor and cooled in the condenser. Afterwards, it passes through the expansion valve and its temperature drops due to the pressure and becomes liquid. The liquid is cooled by passing through the evaporator and comes to the compressor as a gas at low pressure and is recompressed. In this plane, the working system continues in the loop. Chiller system is divided into 2, these are; water cooling system and air source cooling systems.
The Difference Between Air Cooled and Water Cooled Chiller
The main classification in devices is what the heat source is. If the Waste Heat is thrown into the air, it is referred to as air-cooled. If the heat is thrown into the water, they are examined and separated as water-cooled groups.
The refrigerant in the chiller systems works with the mechanism that the energy taken from the compressor and evaporator is discharged through the air cooling condensers. The high-temperature gas compressed in the compressor is sent to the condenser, which has a refrigerant feature. With the help of coolers, heat exchange is carried out by providing the flow of air over the condenser. The cooling process is completed by transmitting the heat on the surface of the gas to the air.
Water cooling systems, different from the working logic of air cooling systems, cool the hot gas in the condenser with water. As we just mentioned, chill systems differ according to the groups they are studied. In this case, what makes water cooling systems different; Tube & shell or heat exchangers, which use water instead of air-cooled batteries, are also used to cool the gas, so it is different from air cooler systems.
